I keep our butter on the counter as well. If it starts getting too warm in the house during the summer months I'll pop it in the fridge. It's totally fine, soft and delicious. I also don't worry about refrigerating my home grown chicken eggs right away. If you haven't washed off the bloom they're safe to have out as well. (Store bought eggs are washed and most likely should be refrigerated since they don't have the bloom on them anymore.) Probably too much information in my reply. I got a kick out of your post.
